Title: critical thinking between misconception and misleading instructional guides

Abstract: This article deals with the problem of vagueness in what has been written on critical thinking, and the misleading guides set for instructors for razing this kind of thinking in their students. It aimed at developing a model that clarifies all aspects of this thinking through a critical analysis of the literature. The suggested model consists of five basic components. The first one was the foundation and grass roots of critical thinking; this includes background knowledge on what is thought about and having suitable mental habits. The second component consists of the means of critical thinking; this includes skills, critical thinking strategies, and standard levels of this kind of thinking. The third component was the aims of this thinking. The fourth component was the special kind of outcome of critical thinking which is formulating judgment support by evidences. The last component was the kind of environment required for purporting critical thinking in students. In addition, the researchers presented broad guidelines to educators for nurturing this kind of thinking according to the formulated model...
